Three celebrity weeklies — , and — featured Sarah Palin on their cover, but one of those magazines is reportedly losing subscribers because of it.
Us Weekly, which unlike People and OK!, chose a rather caustic cover line (“Babies, Lies and Scandal”) is said to have lost thousands of subscribers in just the first 24 hours following the printing of the issue. We got this report from
“I’m hearing it’s 5,000, maybe more,” says one well-placed source in the industry. Another source claimed that as many as 10,000 readers have already cancelled their subscriptions. A spokesperson for Wenner Media, which publishes Us, says “it is completely false that we are losing 10,000 subscribers.” As for the 5,000 estimate, the spokesperson only said “that is false, too,” but wouldn’t comment further.

We love us some dirty divorce details, so when TMZ posted the just released in the Hulk and Linda Hogan (real names Terry and Linda Bollea) we couldn’t help but fire up the printer. Poor Hulk.
According to the document, Hulk pulls in $56,708 a month. Trouble is that he’s spending $104,451 a month, equalling a monthly deficit of $47,743. Still, he puts his net worth at $32.4 million.
As for Linda, she says she spends $7,258 on clothes, $7,502 in maid service, and, of course, $6,100 a month on vacations. Linda drops $2,464 on pool and lawn service (not including the pool boy) and $1,374 in pet expenses. She’s currently pulling in $40,000 a month in support.
We’d clean her house — and take care of her dogs too — all for 8K a month. Linda — call us.

Somebody at took a break from politics and typed in this excerpt from the October Men’s Journal magazine profile of “alpha bachelor” Lance Armstrong, whose last three public girlfriends have been Kate Hudson, Tory Burch and Sheryl Crow. They typed it in before the article was available online, it excited them so much. Here we go:
These days he’s unapologetic about his reputation in the tabloids as a (kind of nasty word) hound, linked to designer and socialite Tory Burch, Ashley Olsen (whom he denies dating), and, until recently, Kate Hudson. “I’m a 36-year-old single guy who is completely open and honest with every woman in my life,” says Armstrong. “As long as you’re honest, and no one’s getting played or let down, then you’re being fair.”

Bristol Palin, 17, and her 18-year-old boyfriend Levi Johnston were quite cute together, sitting there holding hands while (Hockey) Mom Palin spoke Wednesday, Sept. 3, at the GOP convention. By now everybody knows they’re high school seniors and she’s pregnant, so let’s not drag all that up again.
But are they serious about each other, baby notwithstanding? Apparently so. Johnston displayed a “Bristol” tattoo on his ring finger, while Bristol rocked what appeared to be an engagement ring on the appropriate finger of her own left hand.
In a statement announcing that their daughter was five months pregnant, Sarah and Todd Palin noted that the teenage couple planned to wed. Levi’s mother, Sherry Johnston, recently said there had been no pressure put on her son to marry Bristol and that the two teens had made plans to wed before it was known she was pregnant.

The waiting is over, the-will-she-or won’t-she question finally answered, and the answer is she will. Sort of. Britney Spears will open the show at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday. Oh yeah, presses WERE stopped.
It’s still not clear just how she’ll handle the kick-off, but it’s pretty well confirmed that she won’t be doing anything musical. Makes sense?
“MTV has long played an important role in my career. How can I not be there to kick off their 25th VMAs?” Spears tells People magazine. “I’m excited to open the entire show, to say hi to my fans and to be nominated.”
Spears has been nominated 16 times and never won a Moon Man. She’s up for Best Female Video, Best Pop Video and Video of the Year for “Piece of Me.”
MTV Networks Music President Van Toffler said: “Britney has done everything from perform with a snake, lock lips with Madonna and prove that what happens in Vegas doesn’t always stay in Vegas,” he said, referring either to her embarrassing performance at last year’s show in Sin City or her first marriage to that guy nobody can remember — or both. “I can’t wait to see what she does to kick off this year’s show.”
Enough hype. On with the show. 9 p.m. Sunday. Where? On MTV.

David Spade is the father of a baby girl born last week in Missouri to Playboy Playmate Jillian Grace.
“David and Jillian have been in close contact throughout her pregnancy and he plans to go see the baby during his first break from shooting Rules of Engagement,” his rep said.
The actor, 45, announced in January that he had a brief relationship with Grace, and if proven to be the child’s biological father, he would accept responsibility. The baby was born Aug. 26. No other details, including the baby’s name, were provided.

Oprah Winfrey’s mother, Vernita Lee, is being sued by a high-end fashion store over a past due bill of more than $150,000.
According to the suit, Lee, a Milwaukee resident, has had an open-ended charge account with Valentina Inc. since January 2004. As of July 1, she has racked up a bill of $155,547.31 in purchases and interest, according to the complaint. She was required to make a minimum monthly payment of $2,000 to the store, but stopped making the payments.
“There isn’t any ill will, it’s a matter of contract,” the store’s attorney told the Milwaukee Sentinel. No ill will? Not yet maybe, but Lee has hired three attorneys to prove she doesn’t owe the bill, according to the Sentinel.
Oprah and Lee lived in Milwaukee during part of Oprah’s childhood.
