MIAMISBURG — Lebanon’s playoff destiny is out of its hands.

So, the Warriors stayed focused on what they could control, rolling to a 42-7 win at Miamisburg on Friday, Oct. 30.

Lebanon scored on the first play from scrimmage and never looked back, clinching the outright Greater Western Ohio Conference South Division title.

“I think tonight was a reflection of the whole season,” Lebanon coach Shawn Lamb said. “Our leaders stepped up and we played well in all phases of the game.

“This is a special team. I hope we live to play another week, but if this was the last game, these guys will go down in Lebanon High School history as a classy team that knew how to win and went out and played Lebanon Warrior football.”

Senior running back Trey Bonny set the tone for Lebanon, sprinting 67 yards for a touchdown on the game’s opening play. Bonny finished with 139 yards rushing on nine carries and also scored a touchdown on a 22-yard screen pass late in the first half.

“All the credit goes to the offensive line. They opened some great holes,” Bonny said. “I had room to run everywhere.

“Winning the league and closing the season out like this means a lot. We knew we had the potential, but to get the title with this group of guys is a great feeling.”

Lebanon (8-2, 4-0 GWOC South) rolled up over 400 yards of offense and eclipsed the 2,000 yard barrier in both rushing and passing on the season.

Quarterback Dusty Isaacs completed 12-of-14 passes for 190 yards and two touchdowns – the screen pass to Bonny and a 45-yarder to Chase Cochran midway through the first quarter.. He also ran for two scores.

“They wanted to take away our deep ball and put two guys over the top of Chase,” Isaacs said. “But that left fewer people in the box so Trey ran wild. We were also able to utilize our underneath stuff.”

The Warriors built a 35-0 lead with just under four minutes remaining in the first half.

Miamisburg (1-9, 0-4 GWOC South) got its lone score in the waning seconds of the half on a one-yard plunge by quarterback Jake Sears.

Lebanon’s defense, led by Jake Gilbert and Chris Benton who had 11 tackles each, held the Vikings to 194 yard of total offense, 104 of it on the ground. Cody Hamblin was Miamisburg’s leading rusher with 90 yards on 23 carries.

The Warriors now sit and wait to see how the computer crunches the numbers in the Harbin Ratings to determine the final Division I playoff spots. Lebanon entered the final week sitting in the eighth and final position, but needed help to avoid getting passed by Centerville or Middletown in the final standings.
