Miami hockey edges Northern Michigan

MARQUETTE, Mich. — Chris Wideman and Tommy Wingels each scored power-play goals in the second period to lead the No. 1-ranked Miami RedHawks men’s hockey team to a 2-1 win over Northern Michigan on Saturday, Oct. 31.

Miami goalie Cody Reichard recorded 22 saves for the RedHawks.

Wideman’s goal at 9:28 in the second period was the first of his career. Andy Miele and Reilly Smith assisted on the goal.

Carter Camper earned the assist on Wingels’ goal.

Northern Michigan’s Mark Olver scored a first-period goal to give the Wildcats an early lead.

The RedHawks play fifth-ranked Michigan at 7:35 p.m. Friday in Ann Arbor, Mich.
