CHILLICOTHE — The Miami University baseball season ended Friday, May 22, with a 12-8 loss to Kent State in the semifinals of the Mid-American Conference tournament.
The RedHawks (30-25) reached the semifinals with a wild come-from-behind win against Central Michigan in which MU scored nine runs in the bottom of the eighth inning for a 10-4 triumph.
Miami led Kent State 4-1 after 11/2 innings of their semifinal game, but the Flashes scored four in the bottom of the second to take a lead they would never relinquish.
Kent State (41-15) will play for the title today against the winner of Friday’s late semifinal between Eastern Michigan and Toledo.
Adam Eaton (3-for-4, home run, three RBIs, three runs), Jordan Petraitis (3-for-4, home run, RBI, two runs) and Chris Nadeau (1-for-4, home run, three RBIs, run) led the offense for Miami in the semifinal loss.
Petraitis went 2-for-5 with four RBIs, a run and a stolen base, and Jon Edgington went 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs in the comeback win against Central Michigan.
