Maineville Village Council approved contracting with Lebanon's McKenna Associates earlier this month for zoning services.

"We've always done our own zoning, but with the growth, we've decided it's time to get some professional help to ensure with all the changes within state law that we're in compliance," Village Administrator James Marconet said.

Extras

McKenna will prepare new, as well as modifications of, the zoning districts for properties along Ohio 48 in the village. Changes will be based on the comprehensive plan council approved last year and will encompass a mixed use redevelopment.

Before starting the project, the contract states interviews will be held to gauge the prospective needs of the community and of the people who will be the primary users of the new districts.

McKenna will also do a diagnostic review of the existing conditions to build on information gathered during the comprehensive plan studies. The opportunities for public parks, state and federal laws and regulations, design reviews and other evaluations will be taken into consideration.

Specific standards for

buffering regulations, landscaping, signs, parking, loading and conditional uses will also be included in the draft that will be presented to council.

It will cost an estimated $7,962.50 and be billed at an hourly rate.

Village officials expect to sign the contract at the beginning of May and say there will be a public hearing and an adoption process — all estimated to take three months.
