Indictment: Man held 3 people at gunpoint

A 38-year-old Springboro man accused of holding three people at gunpoint after he found them in a city park after hours in March has been indicted for abduction, aggravated menacing and tampering with evidence.

On March 14, an adult and two children called 911 to report Michael L. Webber ordered them at gunpoint onto a bridge at North Park in Springboro "and told them not to move," Springboro Detective Lisa Walsh said in a search warrant affidavit.

"Webber lectured them about being in the park after hours " and "eventually released them," Walsh said in the affidavit filed March 18 in Warren County Common Pleas Court.

On Monday, April 28, court officials reported a grand jury had indicted Webber on three counts of abduction, three counts of aggravated menacing and a single count of tampering with evidence.

The tampering charge alleges Webber, who lives adjacent to the park, hid the gun, a blue snub-nose Smith and Wesson .38 caliber revolver found by police in the attic of the attached garage of his home, according to search warrant documents.

Webber, arrested on March 18, remained free Monday on $25,000 bond. He and his lawyer couldn't be immediately reached.
