Monday, April 28, 2008

The Family Services program at Warren County Community Services, Inc. (WCCS) is officially launching the Ohio Benefit Bank in Warren County. This official launching is part of WCCS' celebration of National Community Action Month in May.

The Ohio Benefits Bank is a web-based computer program that connects low to moderate income Ohioans with access to public benefits as well as free tax preparation services. A pilot program was set in place in January with tremendous results.

"Over 45 families were assisted during the pilot program with over $72,000 dollars in tax credits and refund realized," said Sue Miller, Director for Family Services at WCCS.

Beginning in May, the WCCS staff will continue to help eligible seniors, veterans and disabled individuals throughout Warren County access and file for the economic stimulus rebate.

"We want to do our part and reach the many citizens that have traditionally not had to file and may not understand they must file to get these economic stimulus dollars by October 15, " Miller said.

Warren County citizens can check eligibility for additional public benefits on an ongoing basis at the WCCS offices, located at 570 N. Ohio 741 in Lebanon.
