Mount Notre Dame High School announces top ten students, six from Warren County

Mount Notre Dame High School will have an academic signing day assembly to celebrate achievements of the top ten ranked students — six of them from Warren County — of the Class of 2008. School officials say the top ranked students have exhibited academic excellence throughout their four years of high school and challenged themselves with the most difficult classes, graduating with a collectively earned weighted GPA of  5.55.

The assembly will start at 9:25 a.m. on Thursday, May 1 in the school's gym.

Students with their college choice and major in alphabetical order are:

• Yana Bjers, daughter of Olga and Richard Bjers of Reading (University of Cincinnati), Chemical Engineering 

• Lauren Cengel, daughter of Nancy and John Cengel of Symmes Township (Wittenberg University), Psychology and History

• Rachel Creevy, daughter of Ann and Steve Creevy of Loveland (Ohio State University), Biochemistry

• Elizabeth DeBord, daughter of Gayle and Karl DeBord of Mason (Miami University), Psychology and Business 

• Madeline Lewis, daughter of Patty and Denny Lewis of Morrow (Miami University), Business

• Mallory Lewis, daughter of Patty and Denny Lewis of Morrow (Miami University), Business

• Leah Pelzel, daughter of Betsy and Dan Pelzel of Deerfield Township (Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Indiana), Biomedical Engineering 

• Emily Rotella, daughter of Jenny and Jerry Rotella, Deerfield Township (Ohio State University), Undecided

• Liane Rousseau, daughter of Lisa and Mike Rousseau of Deerfield Township (University of Chicago), Economics and English

• Sharon Strizak, daughter of Phyllis and George Strizak of Sycamore Township  (University of Maryland), Kinesiology
