Extras

Each year, the week of May 15 is designated as National Law Enforcement Week and May 15 is Peace Officer Memorial Day to nationally recognize law enforcement officers and to commemorate those officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice for their communities.

The Mason Police Department provides services including emergency response, traffic enforcement, criminal enforcement, vehicle lockouts, offense investigation, numerous community service programs and presentations to school and community organizations, and a growing partnership with the community fostered by a philosophy of community-oriented policing.

During the week of May 15, all Mason police officers will wear a black band across their badges in memory of all the law enforcement officers who have given their lives in the line of duty. Every 57 hours an American police officer will be killed in the line of duty somewhere in the United States and 136 officers will be seriously assaulted.

Light refreshments will be served in the Community Room of the Mason Municipal Center immediately following the ceremony.

The public is invited to attend, with a special invitation to local families and friends of those serving as law enforcement officers.
