Mason City Council boarded up plans for a skate park last year, but the park board is prying those plans loose.

Council member Christine Shimrock, who is on the park board, said that group agreed last month to take another look at plans for the $432,622 skate park.

The city put the brakes on the proposed skate park after several council members said they couldn't proceed due to over-budget cost estimates, and also an apparently dead deal with Deerfield Twp., so they nixed the park that has been in the pipeline for about five years.

"We agreed to review old plans, look at modifications, adjust the budget and talk to Deerfield,"

Shimrock said.
