LIBERTY TWP. — A plan submitted by a town center developer this week details a proposed $200 to $250 million project in a high-profile Liberty Twp. location.
The 110-acre "Liberty Town Square" project would be situated between Ohio 129 and Hamilton-Mason Road, just west of Interstate 75, and include stand-alone and second-floor retail shops and offices, "tablecloth" restaurants, bars, a movie theater and several hundred luxury apartments, said Mike Duffey, spokesman for Columbus-based Steiner + Associates, which submitted plans to the township Tuesday, May 20.

The plan also call for two hotels, a convention and conference center, health club and fitness center and bowling alley, Duffey said.
Local developers Bob Brockoff, George Flynn, Bob Hutsenpiller and Miller-Valentine purchased the necessary acreage for the project over the past three years before inking a deal with Steiner to develop the site, Duffey said.
A request to rezone the property to business planned unit development will be scheduled to go before the Butler County Planning Commission and the Liberty Twp. Zoning Commission next month and Liberty Twp. trustees in July, he said.
The new development would be accessible via on-ramps from Interstate 75 and a soon-to-be widened five-lane Hamilton-Mason Road, two components of the Liberty Interchange project.

I think it stinks! I moved here 12 years ago because it was close enough to the city to be convenient, yet far enough away to be peaceful. I moved from the Kenwood area which just became too crazy! It’s not going to kill people to have to drive 10 minutes to get to stores that are already there. For Pete’s sake, Union Center is just 2 exits down the road. Guess I’ll be looking for a new home - sad.

This is a very nice concept for the area.Caution here-don’t go too far on the upscale ideas.Remember when they created the upscale theme for Forest Fair Mall? They brought in stores that outpriced the wallet of the customers and offered more”New York”style clothes and other items that didn’t necessarily attract the Midwest lifestyle and stores went out of business. They then changed course and downsized the theme to match the area’s lifestyle.Personally- would be too upscale for my taste/wallet.

I think this would be nice next door to the new coke plant! Why can’t Middletown have this kind of vision for their city?

This fits what a lot of people have said is needed for our community. I think this is great, and the revenue will keep our taxes low for the rest of us residents.

It sounds like a fantastic idea. That would be a “high-end” shopping and dining experience. And then just down the street is Bridgewater Falls where a more budgeted shopping center exists, with stores such as Claire’s, Justice, Target, Walmart and other small businesses. Hopefully Liberty Square will be more like Union Centre where there are some unique gift and clothing stores. I wish them great success with the Planning and Zoning Commissions.

Yes, we need this development. We need the tax dollars this would bring for the township and we need the services. We have to drive to other areas for these services, might as well keep it in the township. Start digging now!
