Largest U.S. undercover OxyContin buy made in Michigan

Warren County Drug Task Force assists with investigation; Fairfield man arrested.

An undercover sting conducted May 6 by the Southwest Ohio Regional Drug Task Force resulted in the largest undercover purchase of OxyContin in the United States.

The task force, in conjunction with the Warren County Drug Task Force, the Cincinnati Office of the FBI, and the Dayton office of the DEA, conducted a 3-month investigation into the distribution of OxyContin into southwest Ohio, which culminated May 6 in Dearborn, Mich., when a purchase of 3,000-80mg tablets of OxyContin was made, along with three arrests, including a Fairfield man.

The pills were purchased for $105,000, and have an ultimate street value of $240,000. One previous purchase of 600 OxyContin tablets had been made during the course of the investigation in Warren County.

The Fairfield resident – 23-year-old Zaid Nassar of Timber Hallow Drive – was arrested May 20 and charged with conspircay to distribute a controlled substance. Nassar is believed to be an illegal alien from the country of Jordan, according to law enforcemet officers. Nassar also has a residence in the 1000 block of Shayler Rd. in Batavia. Search warrants were served at both reisdences and resulted in the seizure of a significant amount of money and a firearm.

Omar Little, 37, and Troy Daniels, 40, both of Detroit, were also arrested on charges of conspircay to distribute a controlled substance.

This investigation was a joint venture of many law enforcement agencies and the direct assistance of the maker of OxyContin, Purdue Pharma, who provided a significant amount of undercover funds to contribute to this investigation's success, and to the assistance of the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Ohio.
