'Artificial Intelligence' at Little Miami High School
Tuesday, November 11, 2008
MORROW — The Little Miami High School drama club's Fall production of "Artificial Intelligence" opens at 7:30 p.m., Thursday Nov. 13, and continues through the weekend.
In this hysterical, fast-paced farce by Robert Frankel, Professor Rice (played by Dylan McCracken) heads up Rand University's computer department and is preparing to unveil a financial prediction software program called ALICE to important investors. The problem is ALICE is "dead" just an hour before presentation time.
The fun begins when an investor gets confused and believes ALICE is Professor
Rice's daughter. In reality, the professor's daughter, Jenny (played by Megan Beerse and Angela Sizemore), is pregnant and considering naming her baby-to-be Alice.
Adding to the confusion, Rice's wife (played by Katie Kostich and Holly Gale), who is a doctor, is awaiting results as to whether she also is pregnant. Confusion reigns over both the pregnancies and ALICE as Rice tries to keep his stories straight.
Drama advisers Damon Hatten and Erin Haas-Hatten selected the show to best emphasize the talents of the performers.
"We picked this show to help build up the program. We have a lot of up-and-coming talent that we wanted to work on the basics with. Artificial Intelligence is a fast-paced comedy that we thought would best show off the comedic abilities of our more veteran students, as well as allow us to bring in some younger and new students and showcase their abilities," Damon Hatten said.
Shows will also begin at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14 and Saturday, Nov. 15, as well as a matinee at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in the Little Miami High School auditorium.
Tickets are $5 for students and senior citizens and $7 for adults.
