More shake-up in P&G leadership
Monday, March 09, 2009
CINCINNATI — Procter & Gamble Corp. announced today, March 9, that Susan Arnold is retiring.
Arnold, the president of P&G's global business units, had planned to retire once she turned 55 years old, which happened Sunday, the company said. She will remain with P&G until Sept. 1 on special assignment, but officially resigned her position Monday. The three vice chairman who reported to Arnold will now report to Chairman and CEO A.G. Lafley as the company said her position will not be immediately filled.
Earlier this year, Chief Financial Officer Clayton Daley stepped down, giving Treasurer Jon Moeller the post.
Rumors have been circulating as to who would now be the front-runner to succeed Lafley as CEO. Experts name Chief Operating Officer Robert McDonald as the most likely to take the post. The company is not commenting on the possible succession.
In a December 2008 meeting, Lafley assured investors he would remain head of P&G for the foreseeable future.
