Spartan boys win KTC Invitational

Waynesville High invited some old friends over last Friday for the annual Kenton Trace Conference track and field meet.
The eight members of the disbanded conference renewed old rivalries with Greeneview and Waynesville claiming the top spots.

The Spartan boys won their half of the meet with 103 points, followed byh Greeneview (89), Madison Plains (76) and Yellow Springs (73).
Greeneview won the girls' competition with 138.5 points, followed by Clinton-Massie (133), Waynesville (93) and Cedarville (50).
Waynesville's boys picked up their majority of their points on the track where they won three events and took second in five others.
The sprint relays is where the Spartans dominated, winning the 400 meter relay in 45.19 seconds and taking the 800 relay in 1:33.82.
Seth Millar was Waynesville's lone individual champion, winning the 100 meters in 11.11 seconds.
Millar also finished second in the 200 witha time of 23.12, while Danny Parsons took second in the 800 (2:10.38), Tyler Johnson was runner-up in the 400 (52.63), Jeff Messinger was second in the 100 (11.36) and Joey Hernandez was second in the 110 high hurdles (16.75). Hernandez also took second in the long jump with a leap of 20 feet, even.
The Waynesville girls won two individual events as Bobbi Wilson won the 1600 meters in 5:48.97 and Alyssa Ritchie won the 800 in 2:30.72.
The Lady Spartans got a second place finish from Wilson in the 3200 (12:48.66) and a pair of silvers from Jessica Dahnke in the shot put (29-1) and the discus (102-7). In addition, Waynesville's 800 meter relay team took second in 1:56.02.
