West's McMahon named to volleyball national training team

Lakota West High freshman volleyball player Liz McMahon was named to the U.S. Girls Youth National Training Team on Tuesday, May 6.
The team of 22 players from all over the United States will train in Atlanta later this month before eventually cutting the roster down to 12 players.

Those 12 will represent the USA at the 2008 NORCECA U-18 Continental Championship at Guaynabo, Puerto Rico, in July.
McMahon, a 6-foot-6 middle blocker, was a first-team, all-Greater Miami Conference selection last fall for the Firebirds. She is one of only three players from the class of 2011 to make the National Training Team; the other members are in the class of 2010.
McMahon is also one of only three players from Ohio.
