Lebanon High School used early offense and stellar pitching to down Fairborn 4-1 in a Division I softball sectional final Friday, May 16, at West Carrollton.

Pitching ace Chelsea Kaunert improved to 10-1 on the season by going the distance and striking out a dozen. The senior also had a pair of hits and scored two runs. First baseman Allie Manwaring added two RBIs for Lebanon (27-1).

Milton-Union 1, Springfield Northeastern 0: Southwestern Buckeye League pitcher of the year Jade Clark pitched a complete-game shutout as the Bulldogs took the Division II sectional championship at Northmont. Devon Stewart scored Ashlee Whitmer with a sacrifice for the lone run of the game.

Northmont 2, Piqua 0: Bre Fisher drove home the only run she would need as the Thunderbolts downed the Indians. Fisher broke a scoreless tie in the sixth inning with a single up the middle, and pitched a complete-game shutout in Division I play at Bellbrook. Northmont improved to 25-3.

Baseball

Vandalia Butler 3, Springfield North 2: An era ended in Springfield as the Aviators knocked off the Panthers in Division I play. Mike Radominski scored the game-winning run on a passed ball in the bottom of the seventh inning for 16-12 Butler. Zach Dumler punched out 10 en route to his fifth victory of the season. North finished its farewell season at 16-7. The Panthers will become Springfield High School next year after combining with South.

Bellbrook 6, Hamilton Ross 3: The visiting Golden Eagles pulled off the Division II upset by knocking off the top-seeded Rams. Kyle Furderer hit a solo home run and Zach Guess had a pair of hits and a key diving catch that saved a couple of runs. Michael Morgan picked up the win.

Springboro 5, Beavercreek 4: Stefen Lamley singled home Cory Hough with the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning as the Panthers downed the Beavers in Division I action at Springboro (23-4). The second-seeded Panthers face Fairmont today at Xenia. Beavercreek finished its year 14-8.
