Little Miami boys lacrosse coach Matt Leedy said before the season started that he thought 13 wins would earn a high seed for his team in the postseason tournament.

He didn't know that 13 wins would earn the Panthers the top seed in the Club Division, South Region.

Little Miami won the South Region with a 13-4 overall record, 9-1 in divisional play. As a result, the top-seeded Panthers received a bye in the opening round of the state tournament and will play the winner of Springboro/Fairfield at 6:30 p.m. May 29 at Little Miami Junior High School.

"I couldn't be more pleased with our record and we're excited to be in a position where — if we take care of business — we'll play three games at home before heading to Columbus for the state championship game," Leedy said.

The Panthers have done it with offense this spring. Little Miami has averaged more than 13 goals per game, led by Christian Albertson, who leads the South Region in scoring (6.06 points per game) and assists (49 for the season).

"Our greatest asset is our ability to control the ball and put lots of points on the board," Leedy said. "We like to score a lot and see if the other team can hang."

Little Miami has been so dominant in the regular season that nearly half of the All-South Region first team — 14 players from 12 teams — wears green and gold.

In addition to Albertson, who was voted first-team attack, Vos Taylor and Ryan Shearer were voted first-team midfield, while David Renner was first-team defense and Caleb Wilkerson was first-team goalie.
