More than 200 members of Urbancrest Baptist Church will come together over the next two weeks to produce and perform in “Legend or Legacy”, a nine-scene walk-through interactive drama. The play was written by Darlys Bullock and Leah Busick and focuses on a typical family and explores how their choices and actions have lasting consequences.

Bullock is tight-lipped about the drama she co-wrote but will hint at a few of the plot elements. She was inspired to write the story following the death of her mother last December.

“My mother’s passing made me think about what kind of legacy you leave behind,” Bullock said. “People are concerned about the big picture, but I was thinking about the legacy of love and family and faith you leave behind.”

The story centers around Rob and Jen Meyers and their choices as they enter adulthood.

“Legend or Legacy” is the fourth interactive drama produced by Urbancrest Baptist Church. Bullock said previously plays produced by the church have drawn 2,500 people. However, this is the first play to be written locally by Bullock and Busick, who also is directing it.

“This isn’t like a hell house where scare tactics are used,” Bullock said. “We use real life situation to underscore Biblical concepts.”

“It’s an amazing experience,” said Susan Byrd, who serves as one of the “guides” for the performance.”

Byrd said she was proud to help a friends vision become reality but even prouder of the work being done by the play.

“Lives are changed by these performances,” Byrd said. “It’s a great ministry because it points out to people the consequences of the choices they make. I’ve seen people really and truly affected by a visit here.”

“Legend or Legacy” will be performed at varying hours on Saturday Oct. 17 and 24, Sunday, Oct. 18 and 25, Wednesday, Oct. 21, and Friday, Oct. 23. The performance lasts approximately 90 minutes.

“Legend or Legacy” is recommended for audiences 10 years and up. Although admission is free, a donation of $3 per person is suggested to help offset production costs. Booking in advanced is encouraged for all groups and required for groups of 10 or more. Bookings can be made by calling Urbancrest Baptist Church at (513)932-8284.
