Do you think you know Waynesville in and out? Do you have an eye for the finer details? Then Waynesville has a contest for you.

Waynesville Days is sponsoring a mystery photo contest as part of its two weekend celebration of all things Waynesville. Entrants will have to correctly identify 12 photos of famous locations in the downtown Waynesville area.

“Some of the pictures are pretty tricky,” said Carol Vacca, one of the contests organizers. Even though the pictures are of significant landmarks, they only show a small portion of the building, making the contest tricky and fun. Vacca said even though she was present when the photographs were taken, she had a difficult time recognizing some of the locations after the fact.

The 12 photos, all taken by local photographer Pam Lee, can be viewed on Web sites western-star.com and waynesvilledays.com. Entrants have until 4 p.m. Sunday, July 12, to prove their keen eye and correctly identify the pictures. Entries can be turned in at the Red Barn General Store, 229 High St., or at the Ice Cream Social tent during the Waynesville Days festival. Grand prize is an overnight stay at the historic Hammel House Bed and Breakfast in Waynesville.

Waynesville Days takes place 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, July 3-4 and July 10-11, and from noon to 5 p.m., Sunday, July 5 and July 12. The free event includes sidewalks sales, ice cream socials, the annual independence day parade and an arts event.
