Bo, a 2-year-order collie and beagle mix, may be a dog at heart, but he’s always ready to help out a fuzzy friend in need, even of the feline variety.
Bo is the leader, mascot and spokesdog for the Humane Association of Warren County’s 36th anniversary celebration and Stroll for Strays, 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, at the Humane Association Animal Shelter, 230 Cook Road, Lebanon.
Bo will lead the stroll, which encompasses the shelter’s 2.2-acre grounds and some neighboring areas.
Following the stroll, both two- and four-legged creatures can party at the celebration.
Events include a demonstration by “animal communicator” Donetta Zimmerman and a fashion show by Maurice’s. The shelter will hold doggie contests and prizes, including Best Pet Costume, Best Pet Trick and Best Celebrity Look-alike. A silent auction will feature prizes such as a ride on the LM&M railroad and a piece of jewelry from Lebanon’s Gold-En-Gifts.
All money raised at the event goes to the spay and neuter funds and the Bow Wow Meow Medical Wellness fund.
The Humane Association is also reducing the prices of all cats, kittens and adult dogs through Oct. 31.
Adult cats can be adopted for a $25 fee, which includes spaying/neutering, vaccinations and microchip identification. Kittens are available for $45, and adult dogs are $90.
