Firefighters called to rescue cow

Mason firefighters had a “mooving” experience this morning when they were called to rescue a cow on a local farm.

Firefighters received the animal rescue call at 8:08 a.m. today, Nov. 19, to a farm in the 6300 block of Tylersville Road. A cow apparently got its head stuck in a feeding trough and couldn’t get out.

Assistant Fire Chief Craig Bryant said the hay trough was lightweight so every time the cow moved, the trough moved with it.

“It was dragging it along with it,” he said.

First responders were able to secure the trough, reposition the cow’s head and rescue it from its feeding frenzy.

Aside from a little embarrassment, the cow was unharmed.
