Historic Downtown Lebanon is calling “all aboard” for an evening of old-time elegance to promote downtown businesses.
The group is hosting the Gonna Take a Sentimental Journey fundraiser on Oct. 22. This is the nonprofit organization’s first fundraising endeavor.
The “journey” will take place aboard the vintage 1940s Cincinnati Dinner Train, coming to Lebanon for the event. Guests will take a three-hour ride around the city while enjoying gourmet cuisine and entertainment promised by promoters to be “in the elegance of a bygone era.” The dinner train is owned by LM&M railroad, who also runs tourist trains on weekends in Lebanon.
The train will feature two dining cars, each equipped with white linen covered tables and large windows for diners to enjoy the passing scenery. A third car will have a cash bar and an area for the raffle items.
Tickets are $70 per person and may be purchased by contacting the group’s offices at (513) 228-2322. Seating is limited to 100 passengers.
The cocktail hour will begin at 5:30 p.m., with the train leaving promptly at 6:30.
“We are delighted to have the Cincinnati Dinner Train come to Lebanon and play a role in Historic Downtown Lebanon’s first fundraising event,” said Steve Mullinger, president of HDLI and owner of the Golden Lamb restaurant. “It truly is a wonderful opportunity for people to enjoy a very unique evening, while at the same time support important revitalization efforts of downtown Lebanon that really impacts the whole region.”
The nonprofit was established in 2007 to improve, preserve and promote the historic central business district of Lebanon and in 2009 was designated as an “Ohio Main Street Community,” one of 38 Ohio communities that network for preservation and promotion of downtown areas.
