The Warren County Drug Task Force has seized “tens of thousands” of Xanax pills and materials and equipment to manufacture the drugs in a house in the 6700-block of Hendrickson Road in Turtlecreek Twp.
Agents executed the search at 6738 Hendrickson Road at 11:05 a.m. Monday, Nov. 9. During the search, an estimated 50,000 to 100,000 Xanax pills were found and “pounds” of materials to make them, said John Burke, commander of the Warren County Drug Task Force.
Burke said agents “found a very large set up for making the Xanax product.”
He called it “a very significant seizure.”
The pills are considered a controlled substance with a value of $3 per pill on the street, Burke said.
Xanax is used for the treatment of panic disorders, according to the Pfizer Web site, the maker of the pill.
He said the house and its occupants have been the subject of the joint investigation with the Butler County Sheriff’s Undercover Regional Narcotics Task Force for the past few months.
Burke said four to five years ago, agents purchased Xanax pills from occupants at the same house. However, the owners of the house at the time were not involved in the production of the Xanax pills, which were manufactured in Mexico.
He said “the house has been on our radar for the past few years,” and the occupant’s names are not new to the task force.
Several people at the house, including the property owner, were detained as agents searched the house for manufacturing material and product.
He said the pills were being distributed throughout southwest Ohio.
Burke said no arrests were going to be made on Monday but added that charges were forthcoming as the investigation is continuing.
He said there could be possible indictments in the next few weeks, depending on when the case can get to a Warren County grand jury and what else is found during the search.
