Five area lakes will soon be receiving fall stockings of rainbow trout by the Ohio Division of Wildlife, beginning Oct. 7 at Tawawa Lake in Sidney.
Trout are 12-13 inches in length and are ready to be caught. The best baits are small spinners, waxworms, prepared trout baits and corn. The daily bag limit is five.
Following are the stocking dates and the approximate number of trout to be released:
Oct. 7: Tawawa Lake 650.
Oct. 14: Rush Run Lake 1,200.
Oct. 16: Grand Lake St. Marys (northeast corner channel) 500.
Oct. 21: Stonelick Lake 2,000.
Oct. 30: Sycamore State Park pond 650.
About 25,000 rainbows will be released statewide. For more information, visit wildohio.com.
The annual waterfowl youth hunt for hunters ages 15 and younger is scheduled statewide on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 3 and 4.
To participate, young hunters must be accompanied by a non-hunting adult and must follow all hunting regulations, hours and bag limits. A valid 2009-2010 youth hunting license and appropriate permits are required.

A free fishing derby for adults (14 and older) is scheduled for Oct. 10 from 9 a.m. to noon at Spring Lakes Park, 2191 Ferry Road, Bellbrook.
