Miami wins series finale at Buffalo
BUFFALO, N.Y. — J.D. Mynhier went 4-for-5 with two doubles and four RBIs on Sunday, April 20, as the Miami University baseball team defeated host Buffalo 10-8 in Mid-American Conference play.

Jordan Petraitas had two hits, including a solo home run, for the RedHawks, who salvaged a lone victory in the three-game series. They are 12-25, 4-11 in the MAC.
Ben Eubank and Tommy Nurre added two hits apiece for MU. Steve Antoniotti, the third of five Miami pitchers, got the win.
The Bulls are 10-24, 4-10. The RedHawks return to action at home at 6 p.m. Tuesday against Indiana State.
Jones, Zatkoff earn MU hockey honors
OXFORD — First-team All-American senior forward Ryan Jones and junior goaltender Jeff Zatkoff were named co-Most Valuable Players for the 2007-08 Miami University hockey squad Saturday at its annual banquet at the Shriver Center.
Zatkoff, who recently signed a contract with the Los Angeles Kings organization, posted a 27-8-1 record in 2007-08. His 1.72 goals-against average and .933 saves percentage both ranked first in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association and second nationally.
Jones, who currently plays for the Houston Aeros of the American Hockey League, captained the RedHawks to a school-record 33 victories during the 2007-08 campaign. He finished the season with 31 goals, giving him 90 for his career and placing him second on the school's all-time scoring list. Jones also finished his collegiate career with 21 game-winning goals, tying him with two other players for the second-most game-winners in Division I history.
In addition to sharing the Gary DeLonge MVP Award, Jones also won Miami's Outstanding Offensive Player Award, the Berry Family Outstanding Senior Award, and shared the team's Scholar-Athlete Award.
Earning laurels as the team's Outstanding Defensive Player was junior Alec Martinez. Junior defenseman Kevin Roeder won the Blue Line Club Award as the player who best represents Miami on and off the ice.
Other honors went to freshman Carter Camper (Rookie of the Year) and junior Alexandre Lacombe (Steve Cady Most Improved).
Scholar-Athlete Awards were also presented to seniors Nathan Davis, Charlie Effinger and Brad Robbins. Effinger was earlier named as Miami's Male Spirit Award winner.
KSU beats Miami again in softball
KENT — Meredith Linch pitched five innings of one-hit, one-run relief Sunday, but the Miami University softball squad lost to Kent State for the second straight day 5-1 in Mid-American Conference action.
Sarah Billstrom drove in a run and Breanna Robinson had two hits for the RedHawks, who fell to 19-21, 9-5 in the MAC. The Golden Flashes are 31-9, 14-2.
MU hosts Central Michigan for a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Friday.
Sutherland swings MU to second place
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. —Three Miami University golfers finished among the top 15 as the RedHawks finished second among the 12-team field at Penn State's Rutherford Intercollegiate on Sunday.
Freshman Nathan Sutherland led MU for the sixth time this season and tied his best finish as he placed second at 6-over-par 219. He finished just three strokes behind tournament winner Robert Rohanna of Penn State.
As a team, Miami finished second only to the host Nittany Lions, who won the tournament with a score of 286-286-306—878. The RedHawks' score for the 54-hole tournament was 294-289-311—894.
Also for Miami, juniors Ben Wood and Ben Bastel finished in a tie for 13th place at 13-over-par 226. Junior Aaron Crist tied for 34th place at 232, while freshman Michael Drobnick tied for 38th place at 233.
The RedHawks return to action on April 26 at the FirstEnergy Intercollegiate in Ravenna.
RedHawks seeded 2nd in MAC tennis
OXFORD — After a strong season in which it amassed a 7-1 Mid-American Conference record, the Miami University women's tennis team (13-6) earned the No. 2 seed in the conference tournament, which will be held April 24-27 in Buffalo, N.Y.
The RedHawks will face the No. 7 seed Ball State in the quarterfinals on Friday. Match time is set for 2 p.m. and is scheduled to be played at the Ellicott Tennis Center on the University at Buffalo campus.
The winner of Friday's match will advance to the semifinals to face the winner of the No. 3 seed Toledo vs. No. 6 seed Buffalo winner at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
The title match is set for noon Sunday.
Western Michigan is the No. 1 seed.
Hale powers MUM to title at OSU Lima
LIMA — The Miami University Middletown golf team recently completed a successful run through northern Ohio.
The Thunderhawks won a tournament at Ohio State-Lima with a 300 total, led by Ryan Hale's tournament medalist score of 71.
The next day, MUM placed third in Akron Wayne's tourney and was led by Zach Harvey's 75.
Miami Middletown is in second place in the Ohio Regional Campus Conference standings with the season almost halfway completed.
