Firebirds roll in tourney opener
Gray scores game-high 26 points in West's 81-32 win over Seton.

HARRISON — The Lakota West girls basketball team remained perfect in the first round of the sectional tournament with an 81-32 victory over Seton.
It was the 11th straight opening-round win for the Firebirds, who improved to 20-1. Seton finished 1-20.

"We worked on some stuff defensively, throwing out some different defensive looks," said West coach Andy Fishman, whose team is ranked third in the state.
West was led by senior Amber Gray's 26 points.
"Defensively and on the offensive and defensive glass, I think Amber came out and went to the glass," Fishman said. "Her and Alexis (Rogers) both had four offensive rebounds."
Rogers added 16 points and Caitlin Dombart dished out five assists.
"I think our guards put excellent pressure on the ball," Fishman said.
West led 18-7 after the first quarter and held a 41-16 lead at halftime. After scoring the first five points of the third quarter, the Firebirds increased their lead to 65-23 after three quarters.
"They are very quick, athletic and a very talented team," Seton coach Tracy Naber. "They know how to run and know how to play."
The Firebirds face Hamilton (2-18) on Saturday. The beat the Big Blue 63-30 on January 14.
"It will be another good game for us early in the tournament," Fishman said.
