"We worked on some stuff defensively, throwing out some different defensive looks," said West coach Andy Fishman, whose team is ranked third in the state.

West was led by senior Amber Gray's 26 points.

"Defensively and on the offensive and defensive glass, I think Amber came out and went to the glass," Fishman said. "Her and Alexis (Rogers) both had four offensive rebounds."

Rogers added 16 points and Caitlin Dombart dished out five assists.

"I think our guards put excellent pressure on the ball," Fishman said.

West led 18-7 after the first quarter and held a 41-16 lead at halftime. After scoring the first five points of the third quarter, the Firebirds increased their lead to 65-23 after three quarters.

The Firebirds face Hamilton (2-18) on Saturday. The beat the Big Blue 63-30 on January 14.

"It will be another good game for us early in the tournament," Fishman said.
